Questions about NÖVA

What is NÖVA? +7 questions

A Swedish tutor for adults living in Sweden. Every morning she retells a few of the day's real news stories in simple Swedish, then talks with you about them, in Swedish.

Is NÖVA free?

Yes, to start. You can try it right now without an account, and reading the daily edition is always free. A free account gives you a few conversations every day. Plus is 79 kr a month and adds memory from one day to the next, longer conversations and many more of them. It starts with a free trial.

How does NÖVA work?

You read one short story, then say or write what you think. She answers what you said, asks you something back, and corrects the clearest mistakes, at most two.

What level of Swedish do I need?

Roughly A2 to C1. Stories are retold around B1, and you don't need every word. Mistakes are fine: nothing is scored.

Can I speak instead of typing?

Yes. Answer out loud or type, and she can read the story and her question aloud.

Does NÖVA correct every mistake?

No. She picks the one or two clearest and leaves the rest, so you keep talking.

Is NÖVA an app?

Yes, a web app. It works in the browser on your phone or computer, and you can add it to your home screen. On Android you can also install it from Google Play.

Where does the news come from?

From Swedish news outlets. NÖVA writes its own simple retelling and always links to the original article.
